WHY LATIN LABIC?

De acuerdo a U. S. Census Bureau (2017), solamente la ciudad de los Ángeles cuenta con una población de 13 millones 353 mil 907 de personas, dónde el porcentaje de latinos asciende a 45.2% , es decir, 6 millones 31 mil 492 habitantes, de los cuales el 77.6% (4 millones 680 mil 438) son mexicanos.

Practical Placemaking for your Neighboorhood - workshop

Practical introductory workshop on Placemaking, attendees learn case studies and share their experiences.

The session ends with a prototyping lab.

Open to those interested in urban planning and community work. Neighborhood leaders, students, professionals, etc.

Iconic Piñatas- creative intervention

The piñata is a symbol of celebration in the Latin context, with the objective of uniting communities, 5 studios, artists, designers and people in general are invited to decorate a piñata that reflects a message related to the creation of community.

These will be taken to different neighborhoods, where it will be broken in "la verbena" Bloc party in florence firestone neighborhood.

“The community what we want”conversatory

In this conversation, a creative thinking exercise is carried out that allows attendees to express the challenges of the community in which they live, identifying their causes. Those who attend are guided to design collective solutions, the result is a mapping and a series of steps to follow to solve the problems identified.

“La verbena” Bloc party

The verbena is a cultural gathering of coexistence and celebration where the community is invited to share and participate in the breaking of piñatas, the neighborhood lottery game, music and food from the neighborhood.

Welcome everyone! the objective of this block party is to create connections, exchange ideas and lay the groundwork for future collective interventions.

The piñata exercise consists of summoning artists, studios, neighborhoods or individuals interested in intervening in a piñata with elements that represent them. These will be broken in another space, thus making a link between communities.

NEIGHBORHOOD LOTTERY

The lottery is a game of chance recognized nationally for the characters and symbols that appear in it. This version seeks to consolidate the references of the  community, in order to reinforce the roots and cultural richness through playful activities.
Participants in this exercise are invited to reflect on the images that appear in the game and at the end, each attendee will be able to print their own letter through the silkscreen printing technique.
